LORENC 40 "SCOPIC CLOSE-UP "PROF WORTH TAKING" Professor Wintern uses blackboard drawings effectively, examples of his tests are on file. If he assigns "busy work," it is necessary and helpful. His teaching personality is neither stuffy nor "ore of the gang." The biggest problem is that his genetics 30 classes are usually full one-half hour after registration begins. His concern is to make sure students understand what they're learning. Kaleidoscope salutes the faculty at Weber, who like Mr. Wintern make their classes a personally valuable and scholarly experience. Kaleidoscope calls your attention to Bert W. Wintern, Assistant Professor of Zoology. His B.S. and M.S. are from Utah State and he has traveled three summers with National Science Foundation Fellowships. His specialty is genetics and in spite of the complex and changing nature of this field, it is our contention, that he is one of the best teachers on campus. His motto: "I like to give my students enough information that they have the structure on which to build with other principles." 41 |
