Show Alma Mater By Valeta Purrington Nucleus of the Weber family, Firm-rooted bulwark of learning, Revered by those who long before have known your hallowed walls; Instructive, cultural, noble, Friend of the friendless. They tell me you are weak, and I believe them, if weakness means the tears from humbled souls of men. And they tell me you are small, and I answer: Yes, it is true. I have seen the tongues of war lap up your serried ranks of men, Who, with grim faces, marched forth to battle filling your noble service flag with bright and shining stars. And they tell me you have no future, and my reply is: On the faces of mothers, sweethearts, sisters, wives, I have seen prophetic visions of days to come when absent loved ones shall return to build the Weber of our dreams. And having answered, I turn once more to those who question my choice, and I give them back a question, so much to say, Come and show me another school whose teachers are yet students side by side with those they teach. Changing personalities, giving new purpose, bit by bit; here is the answer to the why of life. Turning forth, as a mill wheel turns, its continuous procession of graduates, who all and sundry recognize and acknowledge this influence. Planning, Moulding, Leading, Building, Guiding, Giving, Creating. And under it all, so vivid no one forgets, the very root, the core of it all, The united cooperative, pull-together family spirit which is the pulse, the heart of the institution. Statesmen, professional men, men from all walks of life proudly hail a Weber background as the foundation of their careers. Friendly! Friendly to its leaders, its rebuffers, its workers, its slackers, its builders. Glad to be the heart of its family; proud to be classed as instructive, cultural, noble. Friend of the friendless!
