This collection contains 74 diaries of Dr. Edward Rich and his wife Almira. They begin in 1892 and run through 1965. The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Show TUES. JAN. 28, 1908 Stormy but not very cold. Aunt Paulina and Grandma are piecing me a cream & Pink Sateen quilt. Old Maids Puzzel. Thair has some cold. Dr. had a confinement today. Is quite worn out as he has more than he can do. It is after ten P.M. & he is not home from making calls yet WEDNESDAY 29 I have helped Aunt Paulina Lyman some on my quilt. Also Made four sheets & three pairs of pillow slips. Dr. has had three confinement cases the last Twenty hours & is extra buisy. No sleep last night. Oertel to a piano lesson Cleone took a violin lesson. Junior is a good boy to do choars. THURSDAY 30 Dr. did not go out last night but went to a confinement this A.M. Early. Have sewed some today. Children all well. Annie called a few minutes. Avon went down to Mrs. Maggie Clark to learn a piece to recite Dr. is out to another case tonight Cold today. FRI. JAN. 31, 1908 Dr. was not out during the night but has been very buisy today Margret Clark called. Mrs Flygare Called The Ward Teacher Bro Champuese called. Cleone Avon & Junior went to Primary with out being told. SATURDAY, FEB. 1 Dr. Willie Rich was here to breakfast Cleone went to Salt Lake City to take a violin lesson. Dr. operated on Bishop Hays two sons this A.M. He Henery Hoff & Mr Horsley Dr. Will Rich were here to dinner Oertel took lesson. SUNDAY 2 Children all went to S.S. but Oertel. I went out to Merriots & Five Points with Dr. in the Auto. Grandma & Aunt Paulina went down to Ezras for this week. |
