This car started out as UP chair car number 5338, and was rebuilt in 1969 for the Golden Spike Centennial Expo, which was the 100th anniversary celebration of the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad. The modifications included blanking over the windows and the interior being lined with glass cases for the display of artifacts. It toured the UP system behind a special train of flatcars loaded with 1860s era equipment, and was the only car to receive this paint scheme. The trucks are unique and not used on any other UP cars. |
