Title Courting Candle
Description Artifacts displayed in the Robert Aldous cabin of Huntsville Utah
Biographical/Historical Note Called a courting candle, the coil shape of the holder enabled the father of the daughter being courted to raise or lower the level of the candle. Courting time ran out when the wick burned level with the top coil. Using the wooden piece just under the candle, the father could shorten or extend the hopes of the suitor.
