First Year Electives; Carpentry, Domestic Arts, a and b, Domestic Science, a and b, Drawing, a and b, German, French, Penmanship, Sight Singing, Physiography. Second Year Electives: Bookkeeping, Carpentry, Commercial Arithmetic, Commercial Spelling and Correspondence, Domestic Arts, c and d, Domestic Science, c and d, Elocution, German, French, Geometry, Physiology, Shorthand, Typewriting, Zoology. Third Year Electives: Elementary Education, History, a and b, Physics, Pyschology, Solid Geometry, Trigonometry, Drawing, e and f, Domestic Arts, e and f, Domestic Science, e and f, Carpentry, German, French. Fourth Year Electives: Botany, Carpentry, Chemistry, Civics, Commercial Law, Domestic Arts, g and h, Domestic Science, g and h, Geology, History, c, History of Education, Pedagogy, Political Economy. Subjects of Instruction Theology. The Theological courses are arranged with a view to prepare students for missionary labors both at home and abroad; to establish faith in their hearts; to culti- WEBER ACADEMY PAGE 31 vate pure moral principles, and to fortify them against the vices and evil allurements of the age. With this object in view, the following courses are offered: Book of Mormon.In this course the origin, contents and divine authenticity of the book will be considered. In connection with the authenticity, the work will be treated from three points of view, viz: testimony from the Bible, testimony from archaeological sources and testimony from the book itself. Texts: Book of Mormon, outlines, Bible and American archaeological works. Required of all first-year students throughout the year. Life of Christ.This course includes a consideration of the preparation of the world for the New Testament dispensation, events preparatory to the ministry of the Savior, and a careful study of His teachings and the events of His life. Texts: The Bible, outlines, standard Church works and other standard works dealing with the ministry of the Savior. Required of all second-year students, first semester. Apostolic Age.A continuation of "Life of Christ" and also a study of the work of the Apostles. The travels and epistles of St. Paul form a very important part of the work. Required of second-year students, second semester. Old Testament History.This course includes a careful study of the important events of the history of the chosen people, their prophetical writings and their moral teachings. Required of third-year students throughout the year. Text: Old Testament, outlines. Church History.A study of the leading events in the history of the Church of Jesus Christ in this dispensation. Text: One Hundred Years of Mormonism. |
