Show SKETCH OF THE LIFE OF ANNIE SMITH DICKSON 1962 She was called Annie Smith Dickson but that is not her name. Her full name is Mary Ann Elizabeth Smith Dickson. Her father's mother was a twin and they named her Ann Elizabeth. Her twin sister was named Mary. Her mother's name was Mary Ann also her grandmother, for several generations back, so she was named for her mother, her grandmothers on both sides of the family. She was born Nov. 21, 1874 in a little log house north of the North Morgan Cemetery, close to the house of the first bishop of North Ward, Bishop Wyman Parker. With her mother teaching her to read at an early age, when she entered school for the first year in North Morgan she was placed in the third grade because of her being such a splendid reader. She was a good writer also, one of the best later in high school. At the age of 13 years she discontinued public school and —3— |
