Show to send them by radio across the Atlantic or to simply see a TV set in operation, would have dumb founded Daniel Boone or Davy Crockett. And think what radar would have meant to George Washington. These are all miracles and seeing is believing. We who see radar or TV or telephone or jet planes accept them because we experience them and based on this experience we came to believe that flying to the moon may not be out of the realm of possibility after all. But what about the miracles of spirituality? Are they any harder to believe? Is it more difficult to believe that a man could come from space to visit the earth than to believe that a man would leave the earth and move into space to visit some other orb? Is it harder to believe that God could speak to the multitudes of people in various places and parts of early America—and be heard and understood—than to believe that President Eisenhower, for nv stance, could speak in a normal tone of voice in Washington, D.C. and be heard in all parts of the U. S., in Europe and even as far away as Australia. Does it require any more credulity to believe that ancient Americans would write their records on plates of gold—of which there were many—than to admit that Egyptians wrote on such a perishable substance as papyrus and yet that papyrus has lasted until our day to be read and deciphered by modern scientists. Is it more difficult to believe that other planets are inhabited by men and women placed there by Almighty God than to be- lieve that other planets are inhabited by people where life came about spontaneously? Is it harder to accept the fact that God's creatures came about by intelligent planning, than to believe that creation formed itself into this vast orderly design after some remote accident gave it a beginning. To the Latter-day Saints it is not any more difficult to believe that Moroni could come to earth than to believe that the Chief of the Army's Reserve Staff could fly to the moon and return to tell the story. —14- To the Latter-day Saints it is not any more difficult to believe that Jesus spoke to the multitudes of American survivors of the storms at the time of the crucifixion than that the President of the United States may speak on a nation-wide radio network. The age of miracles in science but gives us reason to believe more and more in the miracles which have happened under the hands of prophets, seers and revelators from the beginning of time. Suppose a man from Mars did come to visit the earth, and some think seriously that could be—would men believe that story and deny the coming of Moroni? We do live in a time of wondrous awe. The very happenings of our time should make us more firm in our faith that God lives, that he sends his holy angels to earth, that he communicates with mortal men through Flis prophets and that His divine power is on earth to perform greater miracles even than those of the space travelers.
