Show Gutter Motor: --General Electric slip ring induction motor delivering 400 H. P. Winding Gear: --One five-drum hoist specially designed for use on the dredge --A 125 H.P. D.C. motor is provided for close control of the speed power: --Shore power from 12,000 volt submarine cable --Six 300 KVA transformers --Two 1000 KW diesel driven generators mounted on the power barge "Butte", for use when shore power is not available Capacity: --Sand with 6000' line @ 450,000 cy/month Sand with 10,000' line @ 150,000 cy/month --Of steel, made up of 20 water-tight compartments Length Over-all: 120 ft. , 10 inches Beam: 32 ft. , 2 inches Depth: 7 ft. , 6 inches Liain Pump: --Of 20 inch suction, 18 inch discharge. The pump is operated at 450 r.p.m. by a Westinghouse wound rotor motor which can develop 1600 h.p. Ladder: --Sturdily built, of steel beams , reinforced to support the outer shaft. Length of ladder: 74 ft. "Winding Machinery: --The equipment consists of one five-drum hoist, specially designed for the purpose. Close control of the speed is imperative in this type of hoist; accordingly a 125 h.p. direct current motor is provided, operated by a motor- generator set, with Ward-Leonard system of control. A. 165 h.p. gasoline motor is also connected, in case of electric power failure. Cutter: --The cutter consists of a spider or frame which supports five (5) renewable, manganese steel blades. The cutter is rotated by the cutter shaft which is of nickel steel alloy, of 7 inches in diameter. The cutter is operated by a wound rtor motor of 400 h.p. intermittent rating. Electric Motors: --One of 1600 h. p. for the main pump. One of 400 h.p. for the cutter drive. Both of those motors are wound rotor type. Complete control equipment is provided. The current used is 3 phase. 60 cycle, 2300 volts. The 125 h.p. direct current motor for the winding machinery Is served |
