Georgetown, Dear S. C., Sir: We are located on a beautiful bluff overlookin g Pee Dee river. In the park surrounding the house are stately moss srown live oak, cedar, pecan, walnut, holly and other varities of trees and many rare blooming shrubs and flowers. fhe place has much of historic interest associated with its past, dating from pre-revolutionary days. We are about 16 miles from Georgetown and two miles from the village of Plante rsville. A county mail road runs through our property and we have daily mail. Once it was one of the great rice plantations of the coasta l country and at the present time we have 368 acres of rice land throug h which flow Cheraw and Cooter creeks, great fishing water for bass, bream and many other varities of fish. The canals through the rice fields also afford splendid bass fishing. {t is also in the rice lands that the ducks feed and rest on their flights north and south. Millions of them. I think it is less than eight miles to the ocean where oysters, shrimp and all varities of sea food can be had with little effort or expense. Pawley's Island, the principal ocean summer bathing resort in this country, is about 12 miles distant. At one time there were probably 300 acres of upland oleared and cultivated, but for a long period of years it lay idle and the larger portion is now covered by a fine growth of young pine and at this time my tenants only cultivate about 70 acres, but all the upland of 835 acres or more in which is inCluded the pine timber land and that in actual cultivation, is generally considered as good, if not the best farming land in the county. My tenants certainly raise good crops. Almost any thing Srows to perfection. Wood on our steamboat wharf sells at &5 «SO per cord and I doubt if there is an uncleared acre on the place from which 15 to 20 cords cannot be had, while the pine timber, of which i think there is about 500 acres, will produce an average of not less than $200 worth of lumber per acre. A saw mill would certainly pay. On what is known as the Breakwater portion of the plantation is an exceptionally good natural stock range. There are fine living springs and all through the timber there are mast bearing trees, pecan, hickory, walnut, oak, persimmon, etc. At Least 500 head of with but hogs, little in addition if any to other cattle, feed, could be ranged and fattened My dwelling house, barn and garage are practically new. Built less than 18 months. The house is screened. Has a nice sleeping porch, eight rooms, closets, hall, porches, etce Comfortable, convenient and quite well furnished and will be turned over furnished ready for OCCUPANCY e
