The appraiser of merchandise at Minneapolis, Minnesota, has reported to the Bureau that a number of parcel-post shipments of Browning automatic shotguns bearing the above-mentioned trademark have been received at the subport of St. Paul, Minnesota, which guns have been detained for violation of the trade-mark. The interested importers have presented to the collector of customs at Minneapolis a letter from the Browning Arms Company of St. Louis, Missouri, authorizing the release of the trade-marked guns and Stating that that company is a subsidiary of J.M. & M.S. Browning Arms Company of Ogden, Utah. You are requested to inform the Bureau whether the Browning Arms Company of St. Louis is authorized to act for your company in matters affecting the importation of merchandise bearing your registered and recorded trade-mark and, if not, whether your com- pany consents to the release merchandise.
