Show 14 THE ACORN Mina Stop it, Izze, quick. Izze (making a dash for the ball) Get out of the way. (Whistle blows.) Nelson My ball. Out of bounds. (Izze hits it. Whistle.) Nelson Logan's ball. Izze That ought to be mine. Lizzie No talking back to officials. Lucille They're running away with us, girls. Get into the game. Effie Bring it down. (At this, Blue throws the ball out of bounds. Nelson Ogden's ball, out of bounds. Mina throws it in. Two players catch at the same time, tussle awhile, then two more get hold. They all fall to the floor.) Merkley (helping the girls up) You are all playing too rough. Nelson Time out. Izze is helped up; carried from the stage; girls gather around her. Citizen No. 1 Bring some water. Citizen No. 2 Give her room. Citizen No. 3 Where's she hurt? Citizen No. 1 Don't know. Izze (coming back to the stage) Play ball, girls. I'm alright. (The bay is then thrown in bounds. Ogden gets it, throws it around. Logan catches it, throws it to Izze. She slips, falls down and is again carried from the field.) Nelson Zella! You'll have to play it out. Whistle blows and game begins again. (Ogden gets the ball, throws it to May, who hits a basket.) Crowd Rah! rah! rah! rah! rah! 'Cademy! 'Cademy! W. S. A. SCENE 2. (Girls line up as at first. Ball goes up in the center. Blue gets it.) Crowd Hold to it. Watch your play. You're even. (Logan gets the ball, makes two or three unsuccessful efforts to cage the ball. Ogden secures the ball, takes it down thg field, fail for a basket. Ball rolls to center. Mina gets it , and throws to Lucille. Carrie tackles Lucille and they both go out of bounds. Whistle blows.) Nelson Foul on Carrie, pushing. SCENE 3. Lucille takes ball and throws for a basket. Crowd Good play, one more point. May We're ahead. Play hard and hold them down. Whistle blows. Nelson Time's up.
