This collection contains 74 diaries of Dr. Edward Rich and his wife Almira. They begin in 1892 and run through 1965. The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Show MON. JULY 20, 1908 Dr is very much better today. Dr. Joice Dr. Morrell Dr F. Baker Dr Ezra have all been to see him & think he is doing fine Mr Henery Dankers is nursing him. Heard from the children today. Junior & Avon are in the canon. TUESDAY 21 Dr sleept but very little Has had severe pain in back & side all night and to day until Two oclock. Slept some this afternoon & Temperture droped from 103 to 101 & later 98 degrees. We have been quite uneasy Dr Ezra & Dr Morrell have bouth been here a number of times Many friends have called to ask. WEDNESDAY 22 Dr. is very sick has very bad pain in the chest & back cannot rest a minute scarsely with out Morphine and he has taken it to day the first in his life. Had the elders adminster to him this afternoon Bro Shreeve & Jacobs. His fever has been higher to day. Bro McKy & Bradford administered to him tonight. THURS. JULY 23, 1908 Dr. had a very tiresome night is not quite so well today Bro Shreeve & Jacobs administered to him. He rested a little easier this afternoon. Every body is so kind and thoughtful of him. Miss Kruth is night nurse & very good. Im so worried FRIDAY 24 Dr did not rest much during night called Ezra at five oclock this A.M. Temperture some higher also pulse faster. Pneumonia in other side Very quiet day Every body seems to be away. Bro C.C. Richards & Larkin adminstered to him rested some this afternoon. (Made his will) SATURDAY 25 Very warm Dr. is better today though very tired as he is not abel to rest with out Morphine. Is in no pain Pulse good & tem better. Drs Joice Ezra Rich, Morrell Osgood saw him this A.M. Children all away. but doing fine. Very quiet home just Nellie Nurse Dr. & I. |
