Show 22—AL CROSSMAN, Fullback 5—DON BURGENER, Haliback Boise Junior College was organized in the spring ol 1932 in response to a demand for higher education in Boise. During the first two years, 1932-34, the college was sponsored by the Episcopal Church with the Right Reverend Middleton S. Barnwell, Bishop of Idaho, as its first president. In June, 1934, in response to an appeal from Bishop Barnwell a board of public-spirited individuals assumed the responsibility ol directing the school, and as a result a non-profil corporation was formed whose stockholders were Boise citizens interested in education. The building formerly housing the college had once been used for a girls' academy under the direction of the Episcopal Church. The Church gererously donated the use of the buildings for the operation of the school. In September of 1939 Boise lunior College began its first academic year as a public institution. In February, 1939, an enabling act permitting the formation of junior college districts was passed by the legislature, and signed by the governor. In lhat year, in the first forward pass ever used by a Yale team, Yale scored a touchdown, winning against Harvard 6 to 0. It was the only pass used that day. JIM THORPE, the Carlisle Indian who is often called the "All-Time Greatest," of American athletes, played football the same way he did everything else. In 1912 he scored 198 points for Carlisle, which is a colegiate record against major opponents. Thorpe scored 25 touchdowns and accounted for the rest of points through the accuracy of his toe. One of the most remarkable records of modem times was made by "RED" GRANGE, the galloping ghost of Illinois in 1924. Against Michigan, he carried the ball only five times and scored five touchdowns. The length of his runs were 95, 67, 56, 45, and 15 yards. In 3 games played against Louisiana state, Texas Christian University has never scored a touchdown, yet has never lost. In 1931 T.C.U. won on a field goal 3 to 0, in 1932 tied with a field goal 3 to 3, and in 1935 won by the margin of a field goal against a safety 3 to 2. Hurrah for Weber! Hurrah for Weber!
