Show Customs Grant F. Goddard low December Browning 5, 1950 In the Beaverlake shipment exported know, the 39, 22 rifles. I believe November 24, there are, as you it was during Ellis! time that the first shipment of these 22's was brought into this country, They were actually samples for our examination at the first time when we were considering selling these guns. This current shipment is brought in again with no intention of selling any of them, Hanebrink may remember some confusion in the entry of the first Shipment. The dutiable value was shown to be the foreign value less a 2gl per cent trade discount. The deduction of this trade discount was questioned by Kinkaide, and we found upon checking that the discount was not uniformly given to all dealers in Belgium; therefore, we waived it and entered the guns at their foreign value without discount. Suggest that thi 3 latter procedure also be avoid delay ine rh try. It is probable that ing the discount still exists, moreover, used on the same these shipments situation to regard- Subject to Hanebrink's judgment, this will probably mean that, for instance, in the first item on the consular invoice of the 28th of November, 33, 22 automatic rifles will be entered as having a foreign value $6 of cost 1,280 of francs packing each (packing plus 44 charge per cent transmission applied to i ge «Bae whole «a tax shipment, plus the of .course). |
