Show Creed of the Leaders of the Happy Warriors HO is the warriors’ teacher? Who is he That moulds young untried souls to what they’ll be? He is the spirit of knowledge in mortal guise That fashions into forms so beautiful or wise So strong or perfect—the Hidden, untouched clay that lies in every Warrior’s mind Ready to be moulded to a form sublime. ‘Tis he who from another sphere acquired The knowledge that in youth he so desired And now whose motto’s service, and who shares With him these truths he knows. With care He labors yet owes To patience every triumph Who to instill understands those truths, that he knows. the power within each soul And judges quality more than the whole. Who comprehends his trust and therefore knows Responsibility, his friend; his foes Are idleness, dishonesty, indifference too. Who understands the power within each soul, Since most of them He, who, The though truth and from him will be concealed. thus a soul that knows wisdom in his work, and tho He uses discipline and favors none Giving an equal chance Is yet a soul who And therefore to everyone understands treats with the heart kindness every part. And when age overtakes him if he see But one result of all his service, he Will count his life successful In happiness with and well-fulfilled retire desire.
