Head Football Coach Murray graduated from South Cache High School at Hyrum, Utah, where he excelled in football, basketball, and track. He won' all-state honors for two years. He graduated from Utah State in 1941 with a B.S. degree in education with a major in Physical Education and Health. Murray gained all-conference honors in football for three years and was mentioned on several honorable mention All-American teams. During his senior year, he was rated as the eighth best center in the nation and Coach Romney rated Elmer (Bear] Ward and Murray as the two best centers he had ever coached. Murray coached at Cowley, Wyoming, where his teams won1 the northern division football championship and placed second in basketball. The following year he was assigned to War Special Services at Fort Douglas, Utah, where he handled recrealion for the Fort and coached the Military Police football team. The next year he spent at Boulder City, Nevada coaching football and basketball teams to district championships. From there he went into the Navy with duty in the Pacific and the Okinawa campaign. He helped move occupation troops into Korea and North China with duty in the Tientsin and Shanghai areas. Murray was released to inactive duty on May 18, 1946 with the rant of Lt. (jg|. Murray married Constance Maughan, daughter of C. N. Maughan of Weltsville, Utah, and he has two sons. Michael, age 5'/2 and Eric, age l'/2. HAY UNDQUIST . . Assistant Football Coach Ray gradualed from Logan High School in 1936 where he was all-state man in basketball. He was basketball captain at U.S.A.C. for two years, 1939 and 1940. He was all-conference man" in basketball in 1940. Ray coached in Richfield High School for two years, during 1941 and 1942. He wds a Lt. (jg) in the Navy for three years, where he was stationed in the Pacific area and New Guinea. Ray married the former Mem Yeates and has one son, Larry Ray. |
