Show EDUCATION CLUB A shiny red apple, symbol of the teaching profession everywhere, went to Dr. Earl Smart, Weber's outstanding instructor, climaxing an enthusiastic Education Week program. The Education Club activated many other projects to encourage teaching majors to learn more about their field in the course of the school year. To acquaint members with different aspects of teaching, trips were conducted to the Weber High television studio, Gramercy School section for the handicapped, and the North Park Elementary. "We feel our most important contribution to the Dixon chatper this year has been the organization of Future Teachers of America Clubs in the local high schools," said Lennis Jones, president. "We learned that an important part of education is to help others to help themselves." Weber's Alumni Assocation is fast becoming more important in the activities of Weber College as the school expands into four-year status. Board members meet regularly to plan such events as Homecoming, banquets, and other gatherings that unite Weber's former students with the campus population. Much growth is anticipated during the immediate months ahead. Union Building facilities will provide the physical conveniences for alumni functions, heretofore lacking. The welcome mat is out for all students who attended Weber for one or more quarters to join.
