Show 4 F.N.B. Defects. MB.B. 1-12-51 Page 3. new stamped latch, which isn't as desirable as the solid hole in the old latch. It is possible in time that this bearing surface in the new latch may wear through. However, as yet we have not had such a case. Of course, another point always brought up by the shop is that it takes more time to fit the new style latch. Another defect was called to our attention recentlyby Howard Hocher. He said that the last two 16 gauge Automatics he bought from us (serial Nos. X40405 and X)0193) malfunctioned as follows: The shell coming out of the magazine slipped past the locking block latch. He seems to think that the locking block latch spring is too weak and that the vibration and inertia forced the locking block latch and locking block latch spring down, letting the shell pass the shell stop portion of the locking block latch. It is Harry's opinion that the angle of the shell stop portion of the locking block latch was not formed properly. The force of the shell being released from the magazine with the speed and pressure of the maga zine spring forced the locking block latch down, letting the shell go past. However, Harry did not examine these guns. With reference to your December 8 memo on F,N.B. Defects, we have ordered the suggested gauges from Remington. Also, the following measurements were made on 18 new guns even thoughwe had to use a commercial cartridge in measuring head space under the procedure explained earlier in this memo: Measurement Gun Stand, 311131 Std. 16 x107); Std. 16 x)1778 Std. 12 314317 Std. 12 31):267 Std. 12 31253 Std. 12 31255 Std. 12 311,266 Std. 12 31260 Lt. 12 313589 Lt. 12 30215) Lt. 12. 313577 Lt. 12 313579 Sw. 16 X37357 Sw. 16 X37358 Std. 16 X2511 With between | | Std. 16 X2316 2003 Std. 12 314392 ~002 reference to your January10 memo GFG:ed space as we measure 2003 002 002 .002 002 00k, ~003 ~002 ~002 .005 ~002 ~006 2003 ~006 00); ~002 it 2009 e010 2008 .010 «007 2009 2007 ~007 .008 2009 2008 2006 2006 2006 «006 .006 | 006 ~006 on Defective the situation of other items and let you know defective parts other than the locking blocks Encl.
