Theology. The Theological course is arranged with a view to prepare students for missionary labors both at home and abroad; to establish faith in their hearts; to cultivate pure and moral principles, and to fortify them against the vices and evil allurements of the age. With this object in view the following courses are offered: Preparatory Course. The life and teachings of the Savior, followed with a brief history of the Church of the present dispensation. Texts: Bible and Church History. Reference: Farrar's Life of Christ, and Life of Joseph Smith. Higher Courses. I. Church History and Book of MormonThe organization and growth of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and Chronological and Doctrinal Study of the contents of the Book of Mormon. Works on Church History, and the Story of the Book of Mormon. WEBER STAKE ACADEMY. 19 II. Life of Christ and Apostolic AgeThe organization and establishment of the Church of Christ and Ministry of His Apostles. Text: The Bible. Reference: Farrar's Life of Christ and standard works. III. Bible HistoryA review of the compilation of the Bible and a careful analysis of each book. Texts: Old Testament. Bible Dictionary, and other works of reference. IV. Principles of the GospelThe Principles of the Gospel as taught by our Savior and his Apostles, together with the revelations given on the same through the Prophet Joseph Smith in the last dispensation will be considered. Texts: Bible, Book of Mormon, and Doctrine and Covenants. SUNDAY SCHOOL COURSE. A Sunday School Course, mapped out and granted by the Deseret Sunday School Union Board, is taught in the Weber Stake Academy. To this all are admitted who furnish recommends from their Sunday School superintendents endorsed by their bishops and the President of the Stake. The course will begin November 11, 1901, and end June 12, 1902, and will include Theology, Sacred Geography, Vocal Music, Organization and Discipline of Sabbath Schools, Outlining of Lessons and Methods of Teaching. A series of lectures will also be given on general topics pertaining to Sunday School work. MISSIONARY COURSE. The following Missionary Course as outlined by the Presidency of the Church specially for the church schools will be given: |
