Five hours per week first half year. Wentworth's High School Arithmetic. ARITHMETIC "B." NORMALThe origin and nature of numbers; discussion of the unit and the evolution of the processes showing their relations to the unit; short discussions of all the subjects of arithmetic, emphasising the best methods of how to teach them. The first five weeks will be devoted to lectures. Students taking this course will be required to have finished "A" or its equivalent and Psychology as offered in the Academy. Five hours per week during the second half year. ALGEBRA IRequired of first year students in the Normal, Classical, and Scientific courses. Fundamental principles, use of parentheses, factoring, highest common factor, least common multiple, fractions, equations, inequalities, involution and evolution, radicals, theory of exponents, quadratic equations, progression, binominal theorem and logarithms. Five hours per week throughout the year. Well's Essentials. GEOMETRY I. PLANERequired of second year students in the Normal, Classical, and Scientific courses. This course includes retilinear figures, areas of polygans, regular polygons, and maxima and minima. Problems of construction and demonstration throughout. Three hours per week throughout the year. Wentworth's Plane and Solid Geometry, Revised. ALGEBRA IIRequired of third year students in the Classical course. Open as an elective to others. Interest and annuities, choice, chance, continued fractions, theory of numbers, variables and limits, summation of series and tests of their convergency, exponential and logarithmic series, determinates, etc., are included in this course.
