Library on Kearney Street has the following books: The Bechtel Story "The second prominent job of the 30's in which Bechtel and Kaiser participated was construction of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, this time as a member of Bridge Builders, Inc. That joint venture completed two important contracts on the project—one for the pier foundations of the East Bay crossing and the other for painting the entire eight mile bridge. " Bridges and Men by Joseph Gies Gives a history of the difficulties in the construction of the bridge, but doesn't name any of the contractors. |
