In the back are board accounts with various men, Example: G. Barmot - Paid Cash $10, Boots $7, Gloves $2.50, cash $5, Order ~,25, Cash $5, Goods $JO --- $72 .00. Also a record o.f sale o.f one cow out of three for $JO to Daniel Lee. After Wm Henry FL is born mention is made of the 11 chidren11 • Sep 1 the names Ambrose and Rosella appear to have been added later because she was not yet born. On the last Memoranda page is a record of the birthdates o.f: Amelia b Oct 10 - Ambrose b Aug 3 - Matilda b 10 .Sep - Amelia md 17 Oct - Matilda Arm died Sept 15' at 1 o • clock in the morning in hard scrabill Canyon and t"-lin H Rounds was born Oct 21 at ten rninets to three Am 1873, On the end fly-leaf a list of supplies for the mill appears viz: Oil 5 gal - White · gard - Packing - Buck Skin - Ba.bet mettle. _ Thruout the record spelling and capital letters have been scrupulously followed. Hisspell:i.ng has been followed and it is hard to do. Grandpa finally learned how to spell Amelia but even then, when he didn•t apply himself he would revert back. Nany were doing well to read and write in that day and I don't think Grandpa ever intended anyone to ever read him. On occasion Grandma made the entry and it is noted and the dates carried in red .(Copyunderscored) I heard my grandmother Amelia speak of Hard Scrabble Canyon but I didn't ask questions in those days. One of it' s ; defJ.nitions j_s . given 11A rough struggle for something" so you preiede that with the word II hard 11 and you have it. Even in 1965 we drove up the road a . few miles and turned back not wanting to see it that bad. . It seemed that my mother and I were together in a large room. At the south of the room was a window. As I looked out of this ,<l.ndow I beheld rather a high ledge or cc1.nyon, which looked as near like the Thousand Springs bet"..reen Twin Fills and Boise as anything only more level on top ,d th beautiful green moss and fems gro,-ii.ng on the sides • . \s I looked I beheld three beautiful springs whose waters were clear and like shining diamonds trickling dmm the sides of the cliff. I then turned to my mother and said, •As long as we have lived here I've never seen those beautiful springs 1 • In answer she said, t Just around there a short dista.11ce are thousands of those springs'. I then turned and looked out the window once more and as I did, directly in front of me I sa•11 standing on this ledge, God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. They looked just like the Prophet Joseph Smith described them. I said to Mother, 'There is God, The Father and His Son'. She didn't even answer me and al though I was very excited she seemed very U..'1concerned as : though it was just me she wanted to take notice. I said, ' Hother, they are coming here'. Then as I looked back into the room expecting to see them come in, I beheld a long table:' which went the full length of the room. Around this table were seated men ,and women with heads bowed and hands folded. Just seeming to be waiting. At the head of the table sat my father and he had Lou Dean, my youngest child on his lap. She had her arms around his neck and he was leaning His head lovingly on hers. I remarked to Mother to see how Lou Dean had taken up with him even though she had never before seen him. This ended the dream. · As I pondered over it the interpretation came to me clearly. The deep r avine between the house a."1d where God and the Savior stood, meant that was the great division between God and those people and until that connection could be made by the work for them being done, they would be held back from the presence of the Father and from going on to progression and obtaining eternal life in his kingdom. The sparkling streams of water of which there were thousands, represented the man.y mansions the Lord has in store for the faithful and those who are diligent in his work. Yzy- father, the first in his family to accept the Gospel, sitting at the head of the table surrounded by those men and women representing his ancestors, showing that he should become the leader and savior of his people. Th.e grandchild on his lap, shm·ring that work would, or should, be done in his name throug..11 the young and rising generati ons of his posterit y. I well know that this was given to me in the way of creating an ir1terest in this work and impressing the importance of it upon our minds the real necessity of it. Even that our own salvation depends upon it for the Lord said, "We cannot be saved ,dthout our dead".
