Show Martha Hansen Anderson. 4 \ Martha Hansen Anderson wife of Peter Anderson was born Feb.27,1829 at Elverom,Osterdalen .Norway,the daughter of Breda Hansen and Ingeborg Hansen. Becoming a convert to Mormonism she was baptised August 5 , I860 by Peter Olson and emigrated with .her husband to America 1861. From Omaha to Salt Lake City she walked all the way , and ea^ie carried a baby in arms /While crossing one of the rivers,where the water was very deep,she had to hold the baby so high that she nearly her footing and a man by the name of Olson jumped in the water from the opposite bank a~nd saved them both. Sister Anderson became the mother of nine children,five boys and xour girls,She was an active Belief Society worker and President over the Ward Relief Society at Peterson,Utah.for about six years. She was a remarkable woman of very strong character and in very earlvm was often termed the good Samaritan,as her house was always open to hungry and weary emigrants or travelers. Her house was a typical country Hotel except that she was never known to make any charge.When the appreciative traveler whether stranger or acquaintance would ask what the bill was for such royal treatment she would invariably answer with a pleasing and welcome; "Always care for these in need as T have cared for you,and thus your bill will be payed in full.
