Also through its im­mediate connection to the living room both areas achieve the effect of increased size without en­larging the plan. In this way the architect has attained a pleasing effect of spaciousness while at the same time keeping the plan compact and minimizing costs. The kitchen is a practical, common sense work room, with working areas, preparation cen­ ters and storage space in close proximity. Also it is immediately accessible to the sleeping quar­ters across the rear entry. Light stucco walls and a varie­gated red tile roof will make a pleasing combination.
