Show COMPACT PLAN WITH GENEROUS ACCOMMODATIONS Spanish design is practical one Features of the exterior of design 4-B-16: Low stucco walls; hip roof with close cornice, variegated tiles; entrance porch, wood lintels over openings; batten shutters; outside chimney. Features of the interior: Brick fireplace; cased opening between living room and dining alcove; breakfast nook off kitchen; grade entry with stairs to basement; two bedrooms and bath grouped about private hall; coat closet in hall; linen closet in bath. Details of building documents for the houses shown in this series may be secured at moderate cost through the Home Building Editor of this paper. This service is presented to our readers through co-operation with the Architects' Small House Service Bureau, which is indorsed by the American Institute of Architects and by the United States Department of Commerce. Amount of Living Space, Number of Conveniences Equal Many Five-Room Homes To all practical intent this is a five room bungalow, for the dining alcove is of sufficient size to meet adequately the demands ordinarily made upon a dining room. Also through its immediate connection to the living room both areas achieve the effect of increased size without enlarging the plan. In this way the architect has attained a pleasing effect of spaciousness while at the same time keeping the plan compact and minimizing costs. The kitchen is a practical, common sense work room, with working areas, preparation cen ters and storage space in close proximity. Also it is immediately accessible to the sleeping quarters across the rear entry. Light stucco walls and a variegated red tile roof will make a pleasing combination. Home building questions will be answered without charge. Detailed furnishing and color scheme suggestions for the living room as shown will be supplied. Write to the Home Building Editor of this paper, enclosing a stamped envelope. m Construction: Hollow tile or solid brick walls, stucco finish, tile roof.
