Show boyd farr prepares to demonstrate a neat breast stroke. AQUATIC VICTORIES FIRST three places at the Intermountain senior A.A.U. meet held at the Salt Lake Deseret gym were taken by Weber college swimming stars. Boyd Farr, Willis Wynn, and John Murphy won first, second, and third, respectively, against stiff competition provided by entrants from other schools throughout the state. Farr took the lead in the first lap to win the 200-yard men's free style. Wynn, captain of the Wildcat squad, won the gruelling 300'yard medley event. Murphy won the 220'yard men's breast stroke after leading all the way. These three, in addition to John Jenson, who was on the winning relay, and Bob Petty, who copped third in the diving contest, swam away with more points than all other contestants combined. v for victory left to right, john murphy, dean williams, bob davis, bob read, bob petty, lawrence wilde, willys wynn, fred rowland, boyd farr, erol benson, john jenson, melvin McAllister, and dick baird. Contestants were primarily from high schools in this area. Weber again came through with top honors, with John Murphy as high scorer. Farr was unable to compete in this event, because he had won at a former meet. Much credit for the success of the swimming team this year goes to Coach Bob Davis, who moved into the post as swimming director last fall when Ferron Losee resigned to assume active duty in the U. S. navy. Davis not only developed some fine performers, but he also staged the two-night junior meet without a hitch.
