When the student body undertakes anything, let's all get together and push. If the class gives a dance, let's boost. Only those who "do things" can experience the thrilling sensation of enthusiasm, and yet how few of us allow ourselves that pleasure. A weak member can hang on and be dragged through, but the positive student must throw himself into activities and enjoy the satisfaction of accomplishment. Are you a molleycoddle or a man? THE ACORN 11 The Acorn bids welcome to the new members of the faculty. It is the aim and hope of the Staff this year to place the Acorn upon the highest plane it has yet occupied to make of it a success in the fullest sense of the term. We desire to place in it only such material as will benefit as well as interest the readers. In order to accomplish this we solicit the aid and co-operation of the entire student body, both in way of suggestion and contribution. The more material the staff has to choose from the higher will be the grade of our paper. Quantity is not the only object of our petition, either. Quality is most important. If the sifting and refining process were carried on more extensively before material was given to the staff our aims would be more easily and quickly accomplished. Contributions to the literary department should represent the greatest possible effort of the author and, unless such attention can be given such contributions, consider that the staff is not so "hard up." Then, too, the Acorn does not want hash for three meals a day. We mean by this that we do want variety. Do not look to old Acorns for ideas. If there are any in them they are old ones, and we can all survive the shock of something new. Examine old editions to see what we have not had rather than what we have had with the idea of patterning after the former. We do not want to get into a rut, and if we are there now, let us get out. Too soon won't be quick enough. What Do You Want? Yes. What do you want? That's what we want to know and will try to give you if you will answer the question. The Acorn is the student body organ your paper and you know better than anyone else what interests you. Would you like to see the Local Department enlarged? Do you want to know something more about airships? Are you interested in current events? In short, TELL US WHAT YOU WANT AND WE WILL TRY TO GET IT FOR YOU. But remember, too, that it must come from you. |
