Show Intramural Sports By Kent Weathers Eight organizations, knee deep in rivalry, are striving for superiority in men's intramurals. Every outfit has designs on the championship trophy and glory that goes with it. All this makes for fast, furious, and sometimes facinorous (I had to look it up too) contests. Holding to the lead are the traditional rivals, Phoenix and Excelsior. Phoenix got off to a fast start by garnering most of the points in "touch" football. After football was over, some of the participants suggested that "touch" is a misleading term for what went on. The Phoenix "Sisters" seem to have a sprig of hair showing on their chests this season. By taking 160 points in ping-pong, Brigham was boosted into third place and is currently holding that ranking. Excelsior surprised all by an anstonishing comeback in volleyball. Not only did the "White Hats" take first place but greedily walked off with second position too. Excelsior is now in second place and is main threat to the Phoenix championship hopes. Director Clair (Andy) Anderson looks for a dog fight right down to the wire. Totals for ping-pong, volleyball and football are: Phoenix 673, Excelsior 478, Brigham 405, Alpha Rho 175, Delta Phi 150, Skull 98, Sigma 95, Associated Men Students, 70. top . . . Ruth Johnson, left, registers concern as Carol Lee Anderson does extended reach-up and Diane Wheeler triumphantly set for either right or left hand wallop, finally decides situation is hopeless. Big mouths mean generous hearts, says old proverb which immediately occurred to editors when they saw Sharmea sidelines vent uncontrollable joy at team success.
