MEMORANDA time being settled under the direction of Apostle Charles C. Rich From Paris he moved to Montpelier in the Spring of 1864 in company with others. There being no one to preside over the little colony he was chosen and set apart to preside over them. This he did for nine years. When about twenty years old he was married to his cousin Martha Cozzens who lived with him until the year 1870 when they parted. Some time after he married Emily Almira Merrill as 1st wife and Sarah Jane Perkins 2nd wife. They were married the same day and understood and consented to the same. He lived in Married in Endowment House Salt Lake City Bear Lake Montpelier and raised his family there all his children being born In Montpelier. In May 1890 He moved Aunt Jane and her family to Big Horn Wyoming to assist in building up that country which was just being settled. He bought land at Byron and built a home there. He was ordained a MEMORANDA High Priest and set apart as counseler to the President of his quorum. During the Early part of September he was stricken with Typhoid Fever of which he died Oct. 13, 1905. He was the Father of 13 sons and five daughter. Alwas a dear kind, good, father. And always thought of others first. P.S. In 1890 he was sent to the Boise Penitentiary for unlawful cohabitation being sentenced for six months and a fine of 300. fine. During his incarceration he was treated with kindness and respect and made a trusty soon after his arrival. He made a sacerfice most of his life for his religion and never complained.
