This collection contains 74 diaries of Dr. Edward Rich and his wife Almira. They begin in 1892 and run through 1965. The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Show WED. MAR. 17, 1915 Same thing over this A.M. in house work. This after noon went for a few min to a surprise party on Mrs WM Eccles. Prof. Willard Weihe took dinner with us as he plays at the opening of the new Alhambra tonight. We went and it was a grand concert The girls went with Royal Eccles & Orson Douglas THURSDAY 18 Today a little stormy. This afternoon I went to Relief S.M. in fifth ward and afterwards to a dinner and reception given by the 12 Ward for the old people. The Presidency & Board of the R.S. were special guests. In the evening took Myrene & Thair to Alhambra FRIDAY 19 Have spent today darning etc This evening Dr & I went up to the Mask Ball at High School a fine success. Cleone is Editor & Cheif of the school paper and it was given for this. Junior & his boy friend dressed as ladies wore wigs etc. Avon a Turk girl Cleone a clown Oertel a peasant girl all had a fine time SAT. MAR. 20, 1915 Oertel & I cleaned house this A.M. Cleone went to S.L. for lesson Avon Thair & Myrene took their lessons. This after noon as young lady Miss Sperit visiting us a friend of John M. Mills. This evening Ben Rich Freds boy & a gentlemen from Cal called for an hr or two. The girls played etc. SUNDAY 21 Eight of us went to S.S. the first time I have been for a long while. Mrs Heber Scowcroft called with her new baby Harold Dr & I went to Verna Kiess funeral very sad she left a little babe. Went for a short ride with Dr. Dr Will Rich Dr & Mrs Leroy Pugmire were here to supper. Cleone & I went to church Orsen Douglas spoke very well. MONDAY 22 A most beautiful day. did up the work & went down town shoping with Margret Pugmire Sewed some this afternoon Went for a ride with Dr. Shampooed the three little girls hair. Teachers called Tonight have prepared lesson on integrity Cleone & Oertel out to Board meeting |
