Show i John London John London was born Hovember V, 1840 at Alicester, Jurwicicshire, England. He imigrated to Utah In 18o2 in Captain Duncans Company. He endured all the hardships incident to pioneer life having to walk the greater part of the -way across the plains. During the journey several of the members of the company died and he had to dig graves for these members. After arriving in Utah September 15, 1862, he settled at the mouth of Soho Canyon. While residing here he helpeu to build the railroad. Between 18o6 and 18u8 he moved with his family to Croydon, '[organ County, Utah where he was appointed Postmaster in October of 1688. He held this position until 1916. Between 187U and 1899 he was superintendent of the Croydon ward Sunday .school. He died at Croydon Ilarch 15, 1922. Hannah Elizabeth Smith London Hannah Elisabeth Smith London was born at ,/ilLersey, Gloucestershire, England J,me 22, 1858. She came "to Utah in 1863 in Captain jlats Company. During her journey across the plains she was afflicted with mountain fever, but was restored to health and came to Utah October 4, 1863. She was married to John London November 8, 1863, at Coalville, Jtah, by Sdwin ,/ilae. She and her husband moved to the mouth of 3ch0 Canyon, where she helped iaa/ie a living by doing laundry for the stage drivers. Between 1866 and 1868 she, with her husband and two children moved to Croydon, Utah where she lived until her death. While in Croydon she spent much of her time caring for the sici:. She died October 3, 1901 having lived a good and faithful life. She worked in the Mutual and the Belief Society and was President of the Primary man; ind was much l^ved by the children. by Alice Condie. |
