Show NINETEENTH ANNUAL REPORT 17 first year students. Students pursuing this course are required to possess a knowledge of the contents of the Book of Mormon. II. Life of Christ and Apostolic Age.The organization and establishment of the Church of Christ and Ministry of His Apostles. Text: The Bible. Reference: Standard Church Works and Gilbert's, "The Student's Life of Jesus." III. Old Testament.Required of all third year students. During the first semester the history of Israel will be traced. Special attention will be given to Old Testament prophecy, the foreshadowings of Christ being taken as the central idea. During the second semester the work of the Old Testament sages will be studied. The books of Proverbs and Job, and the wisdom elements of the prophetical writings will receive careful consideration. IV. Principles of the Gospel.The principles of the Gospel as taught by our Savior and His Apostles, together with the revelations given on the same through the Prophet Joseph Smith in the last dispensation will be considered. Texts: Bible, Book of Mormon, and Doctrine and Covenants. Missionary Course The following Missionary course outlined by the Presidency of the Church for the Church schools will be given: I. Principles of the Gospel.A study of the fundamental principles of the Gospel, using the standard works of the Church as texts. Three hours per week throughout the year. II. Church History and Book of Mormon.A study of the leading events in the history of the church, including the organization and duties of the various quorums of the priesthood, the more important revelations to the Church considered in the order of their reception, a brief study of the Book of Mormon and the evidences of its authenticity, general Church information, and training in the administration of gospel ordinances. Five hours per week through-out the year. |
