Show 1957 Projects completed during this period were: 1 - Wanship Dam Located on the Weber River near Salt Lake City, Utah, this project was completed in 1957. It is an earthfill type dam with a structural height of 156 feet and a crest length of 2,010 feet. The volume content of the dam is 3,021,000 cubic yards. The reservoir's name is Wanship also and its capacity is 62,120 acre feet. Purposes for construction of the dam were irrigation and power. The installed power capacity is 1,400 kw. The owner of the project is the Bureau of Reclamation and they were the engineers also. Utah constructed this dam alone and the approximate cost was $3,024,000. 2 - Pine View (Raising) The raising of an earth and rockfill dam near Ogden, Utah, for the Bureau of Reclamation in the amount of $1,475,000. 3 - Karnafuli Dam Tunnels for the Government of East Pakistan in East Pakistan. The cost of this tunnel work was included in the overall project. 4 - Serre Poncon - Tunnels and Underground Powerhouse For the Electricite de France in France. The cost is included in the overall project. 5 - Homestake Sapin Partners Mine Shafts This project was located in New Mexico and cost $1,500,000. Construction work included completion of one shaft and the construction of collars and preliminary sinking of the other two shafts. Incorporated in this mine work was the erection of headframes and the construction of related mine surface facilities. 6 - Massena Intake Canal This project, located in the State of New York, cost $10,900,000 and was done under a joint venture of Morrison-Knudsen Company, Inc. (sponsor), Perini, Walsh Construction Co. and Utah. Our share was 18% and the work was completed about October 1957. |
