Show Our Guest Speaker Reverend Robert_A. Mernills Reverend Robert A. Merrills was born and raised in Huntingdon, PA as the youngest of five children to now deceased parents, Edward L. and Peggie L. Merrills. He professed Christ as his savior in July of 1985 and baptized in September of that same year (age 16). Reverend Merrills was led by God to Utah in 1994 and served as a Protestant clergy volunteer at two Salt Lake Detention centers from until 2001, leading monthly church services at both locations. He has served as a Sunday School teacher, Sunday School administrator, and deacon (ordained in 2006). He was licensed to preach in January 2009 at Calvary Baptist Church in Salt Lake City, UT and ordained by the Intermountain General Baptist Convention in August 2017 and currently serves at Calvary Baptist Church in Salt Lake City as an associate minister and the assistant to the pastor. He has built relationships across various ministries, all ages and maintains a good rapport with the congregation. Reverend Merrills is married to Ptoshia (pronounced Toe-sha), a native Utahn, for the past 17 years. She is a successful businesswoman and serves on the Deaconess and Mission ministries at Calvary Baptist Church. They have one child, E. Kaden Merrills who is a Seventh-Grade honor roll athlete who loves God. Reverend Merrills has a bachelor’s degree in Communication from Penn State University, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Utah and a Master of Divinity degree from Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa Idaho. He believes the words of Jesus in Matthew 19:26b - “With God all things are possible.” |
