Show New Zion Baptist Church “The Church Built By Faith” “Loyalty Day History” Available records indicate that in 1918, the Utah Baptist State Convention purchased a lot on Wall Avenue in Ogden, where the congregation built the Wall Avenue Baptist Church. The church was incorporated on February 10, 1926. Reverend L.A. Platt of Ontario, CA, became the first Pastor of the Wall Avenue Baptist Church on October 2, 1930 and he pastored for six years. On April 8, 1952, Reverend Benjamin J. Washington was called as Pastor of the Wall Avenue Baptist Church and under his leadership, the congregation grew | into the need of a new church building. As a result, Wall Avenue Baptist || — Church found its present location and became New Zion Baptist Church. A New Zion church dedication service took place October 20-24, 1958 and on the fourth Sunday, October 26, 1958, a dedication musical was held that Sunday evening. That service acquired the name of “Loyalty Day.” Each year | on the fourth Sunday in October, New Zion holds this special dedicatory service, usually preceded by a Fall Revival . and today, marks our 46% commemorative celebration. It is indeed an honor for us to observe our 46% year of faithfulness and | commitment to serving in the Lord’s vineyard here at New Zion Baptist Church.
