Show Freshmen Welcomed into Weber Family Above: Is this the strain of freshman week? Below: Purp- l- l- le and Whi- i- i- te; At the request of several sophomore boys, Leon Millett, Lorraine Storey, Rick Carlson and Charlene Ward lend their voices to the school song. At right: Preserving sophomore shoeleather are freshmen Glen McEntire and Glen Ashby. Jeannette Whittaker and Glenna Corey enjoy taxi service about the campus. Freshman queen Corrine Jones and attendants Shirley Gigliotti and Clarice Jeppsen represent freshman beauty. Freshmen were greeted this year with a week of fun, laughter, and true Weber College hospitality. The activities planned were full of enthusiasm and caught the interest of everyone who participated. The friendly barbecue, the big Flaming W, and the pep rally that showed true Weber spirit, will long be remembered by freshmen who caught some of that spirit during the get acquainted week. Don Soelberg, student body president said in commenting on the success of Freshman Week, "We are the largest junior college in our area and the people have a tendency to look up to Weber College as the leader in many things. Let's not disappoint them. If we maintain this spirit through the year, we won't." It's ready to ring. Betty Lyman, Le-Roy McDonald and Frances Nicholas polish up the victory bell in anticipation of the first football game of the year. By the way, it rang. Ah, cut it out! Anne Lund receives a coat of green paint on her shapely pins. Anne was brought before the kangaroo court because she considered herself human during freshman week. Administering the penalty are the court deputies, Roy Parker and Tom Purdue, while Judge Jerry Nilsson mourns over freshman week infractions from on high. 3 |
