Show the value of our lives to others the live of some men are of infinite value because they are fraught with deeds of charity and love toward their fellow men. the name or rather the life-word revered by people for generations to come because they have not only added development to their own livews but to countless millions of lives that shall follow the othing fault of infinite value because they are love toward their fellow men the such men shall be remembered and o come because they have not only but to countless millions of lives others have absorbed all they conld and have ld in return but have continually been finding ything temporal and divine de witte tataiage said it is a splendid world to live in but greeable world we should find it not strange that in such an agreeable world we should find so man disagreeable people " it is these disagreeable people who cannot get along in we they wish constantly for success but stand in the whirl-wind of time waiting for it to find them they may succeed for a time but finally a small misfortune may overtake them which to outward appearances causes them to fail in fact they usually fail not at the time when the misfortune came but at the time when they failed to do their best to recuperate if we measure these people by the standard of deeds their lives will be practically worthless because they have not benefitted themselves the lives of all who attain to popularity cannot be considered valuable there are men who have torn down the armor of human dignity and character and descended to the lowest depths of vice and degregation. groveling and plunging in to be placed upon a pinnacle a lower the dignity of their brethren we can make our lives valuable by pruning them as a gardener prunes and trains a sapling unto a beautiful and valuable tree our lives are just merging from a sapling into a tree we can make this tree beautiful and a valuable addition to humanity if we will but train it prune off all the wayward twigs and let the thing that is not honest virtuous and just if we valuable branches then cut them all off and graft our characters a valuable branch by receiving those things from well developed minds our beloved poet henry wadsworth longfellow has told us a forlorn support which seein may ti in the last few lines lies the key to the value of life that is a life which is consecrated to the uplifting of a brother is of the most value then we can conclude that the value of our life to others depends upon the deeds of love we have performed and the standard by which we can measure it is good works and kind acts toward others alma wilson 09 the basket ball boys the weber stake academy band |
