Show w -- the value of our lives lo others the lives of some men are of infinite value because they are fraught with deeds of charity and love toward their fellow men the name or rather the life-work of such men shall be remembered and tevered by people for generations to come because they have not only added development to their own lives but to countless millions of lives that shall follow them others have absorbed all they could and have given nothing to the world in return but have continually been finding fault with everything temporal and divine de witte talmage said oil one occasion it is a splendid world to live in but is it not strange that in such an agreeable world we should find so many disagreeable lot get along in life ;, but stand in the whirl-wind of time y may succeed for a time but finally people it is these disagreeable people who they wish constar waiting for it to fi th all r artui ippeara nsidered fy causes them to fail in fact they usually fail not at the time whei the misfortune came but at the time when they failed to do their best to recuperate if we measure these people by the standard of deeds their lives will be practically worthless because they have not bene fined even themselves the lives of all who attain to popularity cannot be co valuable there are men who have torn down the armor o dignity and character and descended to the lowest depths of degradation groveling and plunging in the mire of dishonesty their desires to be placed upon a pinnacle above their fellow-men and lower the dignity of their brethren we can make our lives valuable by pruning them as a gardener prunes and trains a sapling unto a beautiful and valuable tree our lives are just merging from a sapling into a tree we can make this tree beautiful and a valuable addition to human ity if we will hut train it prune off all the wayward twigs and let the roots support nothing that is not honest virtuous and just if we fail to find any valuable branches then cut them all off and sruft into our characters a valuable branch by receiving those things which come from well developed minds and departing leave behind foot prints on the sands foot prints that perhaps an sailing o'er life's solemn a forlorn and ship-wrecked b seeing p take hea gain in the last few lines lies the key to the value of life that is a life hich is consecrated to the uplifting of a brother is of the most value conclude that the value of our life to others depends upon deeds of love we have performed and the standard by which we measure it is good works and kind acts toward others the — aln l wilson 09 me of the principal char the witch of the wot |
