EXTEMP. Seated: Ivan Smith, Joan Ericson. Standing: Heslop, Olene Searle, Duane Hatch, Curtis Bob Gardner. And Talked Many of the speech student’s efforts were rewarded; among them were Arvin Shreeve, who received first place at Weber College in the oratorical division and went on to receive honors in the region and state speech meets, Olene Smith and Vira Beth Robson went through to the finals in the Women’s Division to receive second place, Curtis Gardiner was one in the region to enter the state meet in panel discussion, and Bob Hatch was awarded the honor of entering the state meet in extemp speaking. The debate teams who entered the state meet were: Dee Jacobs and Luan Ferrin, and Seth Blair and Arvin Shreeve. | Nola Johnston was victorious in winning the D. A. R. contest, and !van Heslop was successful in the S. A. R. contest. Not only were the winners of contests victorious but all who entered into speech work gained much.
