Show From los toreros and los matadores the members of the Spanish Club found the study of the Spanish language and the customs to be colorful and interesting. They had a lot of fun but of special importance was their journey to B.Y.U. and Weber College for the Foreign Language Festival. Leaders during the year were Mr. Cox, advisor; Becky Dodds, vice president; Bill Bunting, secretary; Judy Johanson, president; Wayne Miya, representative. Through the cooperation of the members of Le Cercle Francais they have had a very successful year. They have become familiar with the language, various French Jandmarks, and the customs of the French people. They have had special parties. The highlight of the year was the Foreign Language Festival. Their capable officers for this year were: Mrs. Tolley, advisor; Richard Anderson, president; Joan Walsh, secretary; Giles VanBeekum, Crowton, treasurer; James Keller, Hans and Penny Keyes, representatives. Learning more about the distinct features in the German culture and language, as well as participating in many activities was the main objective of the German Club. During the year they participated in the Foreign Language Festival, and also joined with the other language clubs in a Christmas Party. Officers were Marian Fowers, V.P.; Venita Green, Sec.; Mr. Moulter, Advisor; and David Peterson, President. The debate question this year, “Resolved, that the Federal Government should equalize educational opportunity by means of grants to the states for public elementary and secondary schools” is very familiar to each member of the forensic team. They have rep- resented us well in competitions in all parts of the state, and are a real credit to the school. Besides debating they have participated in oratory, extemporaneous speaking, and legislative work. In each of these fields, the students worked hard to turn out a top-notch team for competition.
