Show Fine Arts Develop Self-Motivation Classes | ‘ : in the Fine Arts area are offered to students to enrich their lives and broaden their horizons. The Art Department allows students to progress at their own pace. Students can develop skills in basic drawing, oil and acrylic painting, design, watercolor, potters wheel and handbuilding techniques, sculpture, woodcarving and batik. There is an AP Art class offered to those students who have more advanced skills. These students prepare a portfolio of their personal artwork which is then sent to New York for judging and the issuance of college credit. Mrs. Gibson stated, “‘Art classes help students develop self-motivation, decisionmaking, and utilization of time which is priceless in the world of work’’. The Drama Department builds self-confidence and speaking and acting skills. These skills are very valuable to a student all his life. All the arts have one goal, to help a student be all he is capable of being.
