By the time they ran in the Regio n Championships, injuries. Running Dana Maughan had been lost to with six girls, including an injure d Alene Doman, the girls took 1st place. The Weber High girls have never lost a region championship in cross country. By the time they went to state, Vickie Layman was out due to an injury. Alene and Dana were not in the best form tu Evans, Karen Seegmiller. and they ran with only five girls. The girls finished 2nd State. A great effort by all the girls. in The boys team had Jeff Chugg and Richard Evans returning. and They got a lot of help from a group of Sophomores other first time runners. Most notably Tim Colvin , Danny Doman, Steve Gale, Matt Weeks, and Jason Godfrey. The boys set a goal of gettin g to the state meet. To do this they had to place at least 3rd at Region. They placed 3rd, went to state, and ran very well. Most of the boys will be back next year and will be faster and better. It was a great season for both teams. All of the runners can be proud of their accomplish ments. Coach Christiansen said they were fun to work with since everyone had a team attitu de. They all supported one another and all of them worked hard.
