OCR Text	Show 8 - Canada. As to whether they were recent, "yes and no" with examples. JFB then made the point that joint ventures were also characteristic internally, discussed internal joint ventures as a way to pull through domestic product interests and involvement on a sustained basis, resulting in improved management efficiency and transfer of U.S. knowledge and sophistication. Noted this was an interim step, started about 18 months ago with Apparatus Service Business. Burlingame said that looking for new mining opportunities was not part of his responsibility (response to question closed). Kraar asked again about the new GE. Burlingame said the new GE is an interesting term and means different things to different people. To him: 1) indicates redirection of resources of organization into new directions for new opportunities; 2) means a cultural transformation with several facets, such as greater participation in government and industry activities, becoming international, etc.
