| Biographical/Historical Note |
This is the original door to a stand-alone cellar constructed several years after William Bailey Jr. (1857-1954) and Ida Bingham Lake (1861-1881) purchased property from Luman Shurtleff (1807-1884) to build their home at 931 North Harrisville Road in 1879. The stencil on the door reads: "Shut the Door" and "W.B. Lake Harrisville Weber Co. 1894..." Although the cellar was removed by current owners in 2004, the door was preserved and saved for its historical significance. |
