To begin with, the Intermountain Junior College Athletic Conference bowed to war - time travel restrictions and limited official league competition to a February round-robin tournament in Cedar City late in February. Weber College met this problem by scheduling games with the strong "Big Six" Rocky Mountain Conference teams, and as a reporter on the Salt Lake Tribune had it, "the Wildcats played them so often it made you dizzy keeping track of the box scores." Among teams in their own classification, the Wildcats split a two-game series with Idaho, Southern Branch and defeated Snow College in a well-played tussle. While the Southern Utah tournament is still two weeks distant at this writing, it seems certain that the purple-and-white quintet will be favorites to retain the title they won last year at Ogden. Pre-tournament comparisons are difficult, since the teams have not played each other. However, Dixie and B.A.C. have played four games between themselves, each winning two and losing two. Carbon College and Snow split a two-game series, while Mesa registered a strong win over Carbon. Right now, it looks like anybody's tournament.
