Show Wealthy Purrington Bob "Sidney" Peterson June Lefgren CONTRIBUTORS WEALTHY PURRINGTON, keeper of the books in the library, was responsible for the book review section. Reading almost everything new that comes into the library, Wealthy's real job is to see that the "little shelf" in the circulation department is full of interesting titles. Putting himself into almost every activity on the campus, DELORE WILLIAMS could find only time enough to write a book review for Transit. At the time of this writing, Delore was in Oregon representing Weber College in a debate meet. JOAN ALLRED was advanced to copy writer for this issue and counting words, making subjects and verbs agree caused sleepless nights for Joan. Remembering Joan's poetry in the last issue, Transit staff members rest easy even if Joan doesn't. BETTY LU SMITH is responsible for the war widow feature in this issue. Betty Lu's endurance in rounding up subjects, keeping photographers busy and thinking up down to earth features makes her candidate for best staff member. New to publication work is JUNE LEFGREN who is stepping out in front with her working students story. June got the pictures "on location" in one afternoon. Beat that, Mr. Kaiser! BOB PETERSON, cartoonist for Signpost, wrote and illustrated "The Saga of Sidney" for this issue. He's visited those classes so he's in a pretty good position to know his commando training. Pete's handiwork appears again in that soldier feature. He collaborated with EDNA LICHFIELD, Transit's "soldier" girl. At first just pinch'hitting for Transit's regular photographer, JIM BATEMAN and RAYMOND SANDERS learned to flash bulbs in people's faces. Now they are regular photographers. ROSE TAKAHASHI, new to Ogden, is an active errand runner, picture sorter, and jack-of-all trades HARUKO KATO is a willing and competent typist. She helps unscramble the creations of harrassed copywriters. AVIS WOOD is responsible for the fetching shots of intimate dorm-life. Tells all! EMIL HANSEN is a student from Box Elder county JAY RHEES and JUNIOR BLAIR, ad salesmen superb, are responsible for the various bits of advertising in Transit. VIRGINIA BIDDLE puts the lines in the right places and makes sure the ads get printed. LELAND H. MONSON is head of the English Department. 48 |
