Show 16 ACORN refreshments at the "Acorn" Party, but although he is laden like St. Nick bound for a visit to the Freshmen, this is not true, for he carried only an hundredth part. It is rumored that the editor spent from 3 a. m. until school time getting the candy out of his hair. SENIOR SEEPINGS. First in name, first in fame, first in progression, the pride of Weber- Seniors 1912. CLASS PARTY. 'Tis the first night of the last November We'll spend together in Weber, so dear, That the Seniors of '12 will remember As we look back on the joys of this year. All assembled at the hour of six At the "Utah State Industrial School," Where we had been led by president, Clix, And where Lyman the amusement did rule. As at the ball of the myth, Cinderella, The glad eventide changed into gray dawn; Till the cakes and the cream of vanilla And all the other rare dainties were gone. They laughed, knowing how the Juniors were stung. And they cheered for their dear Alma Mater And the Weber and the class songs were sung. SENIORS, 1912, INTER-CLASS BASKET BALL CHAMPIONS Thanks to Porter, Ballantyne, Harris, Critchlow and Jones. They are the men to whom we owe this distinction. A good team and loyal support spell "Victory." The Juniors had a happy dream; They dreamed the Senior class was dead. "We have now but to bury them; Then all our woes will end," they said; They thought they had another dream When at the funeral large and grand, They found the man for whom they wept, Preaching resurrection from the stand. And when that day in basket ball We conquered them quite fair and square This stern reality, to them Appeared a horrible night-mare. Will we win the inter-class debating trophy? Every effort will be made to place another 1912 on the cup. Already the class try-outs are proving that we have the championship material. Seniors, we ACORN 17 must break the record. Let us prove that the "Sophomore hoodoo" is a myth. Rats off to the Seniors! The sweaters are fine. The purple 12 looks great. ATTENTION, JUNIORS! Why has your banner committee been so slow in reporting action? Don't forget the Senior leap year dance Jan. 12, 1912. JUNIOR CONCERNS. The Juniors intend to put forth a very vigorous effort in debating this year. In addition to the excellent debators we had last year, we have several others whose ability along that line is very promising. The Junior class gave a Thanksgiving matinee which was a complete success, both socially and financially, on the afternoon of November 27. All the students present were there for a rousing good time and they certainly got what they came for. A very painful accident occurred some time ago to our vice president, Miss Mable Ririe, whose arm was fractured by a fall. In spite of her injury, she has been attending school regularly. SOPHOMORE PROGNOSTICATIONS. It is said that if Richards keeps on growing" he will soon be a second Pete Kasius. With a man at our head who can even follow in the dust of that honorable Senior, we surely ought to make a brilliant name this year. It was decided in class meeting that the class of '14 will give a dancing matinee in the near future. It is sure to be a success. Why the class of '14 came last in the Basket Ball League. It is a common saying that the silver loving cup is to be won by none save Sophomores and as a large number of our best talent are to try out for the class team, we expect to still keep the charm. Not being of a selfish nature and wishing to give the other class a chance at something, we sacrificed our usual skill for ball playing. We are satisfied with the distinction of winning the silver cup. The Sophomores were glad to see the Seniors win, but their sympathy is always with the defeated. FRESHMEN QUODLIBETS. The Freshmen are pleased to announce that a complete organization has, been effected within their class. Class Party. The most successful class party held this year was the one given by the Freshmen October 25. The music for the evening was furnished by the Freshmen orchestra. The presence of our principal, Prof. Hansen, and Miss Cragun added to the pleasure of the evening. In the inter-class basket ball series the Freshmen beat the "Sophs" 27 to 7 and again 36 to 22 and they now hold second place in the league. |
