INTRAMURALS Mid-season indications point to Excelsior as the team to watch in intramurals. Fall quarter scores list the "E" lads as winners with a count of 426 as compared with 221 for Phoenix, 163 for Sigma, 128 for Faculty and 58 for Alpha Rho. Winter quarter contests have been hectic although the final count was not available at press time. But old fans of intramural "blood and guts" are looking forward to the spring contests and mainly to the most popular audience event of all water polo. In collegiate intramurals everywhere in the country, water polo is the sport wherein the club men drink water and like it as is, spiked with chlorine and other unsavory spices. Other spring features will be horseshoes, tennis, Softball and track, reported the intramural director, Coach Clair Anderson. It's a good try, Excelsior, but the faculty made a better one. So the profs won volley ball. Left to right are Doug Champion, Bill Chandler and Jim Swenson. 22 Helping the team, somewhere at right, in girls' intramurals are Bette, again, Charlotte Stark, and Eleanor Randall. In the far shadows and helping a team somewhere at left is Betty McComb. Just not giving a hoot either way, apparently, is Joy Dinsdale, center left, Weber photogs are a special lot who can ignore the usual rules and still get an effect. Name of this is Criss Cross. The gals have really been getting hep this year. Having played volleyball, ping-pong, and foul pitch, they have the following standing: The Merry Maids seemed to have outclassed the other clubs. In volleyball, the Merry Maids, L. D., and the Pink Ladies tied for first place. The Merry Maids took ping-pong and foul pitch, much to the dismay of the other teams. The forthcoming battles will have much blood shed, and maybe even broken bones. But then, everyone is still in there trying. The forthcoming features will be basketball, squash, tennis, Softball, and swimming. This is a good picture because the ball is in it. Seems to be volley ball. Anatomical hints identify the leaping ladies as Wanda Lacey, Noma Allen, Karen McKay, Jann Heiner, Carolyn Harmer. No attempt was made to classify fragments. |
