This collection contains 74 diaries of Dr. Edward Rich and his wife Almira. They begin in 1892 and run through 1965. The bulk of this collection centers on Almira's diaries that run from 1897-1947. During that time she documented her personal life and the medical practice of Edward, the community of Ogden and national events such as the outbreaks of WWI and WWII. The diaries also include newspaper and magazine clippings, memorabilia and pins. |

Show Does not get dark here until 10 p.m. SATURDAY, JUNE 15, 1901 Inversnaid Hotel on Loch Lomond Scotland. We got up early in Edinborough and took carriage and drove around Arthurs seata high mountain): visited Holyrood palace and Abbey: drive through South part of city visiting places of interest Visit Castle, Leave Edinborough at 1 p.m. Come to Aberfoyle by rail: coach to Loch Katrine Boat across Stronachlachar: coach to Inversnaid. Beautiful scenery all along SUNDAY 16 Inversnaid, Scotland. Have spent a very pleasant day resting and wandering along the lake and through the woods Visited Rob Roys Cave and other places Nice people here from England and several other places. Write letters to Bp. John Watson and Bro Scowcroft. Retire early. MONDAY 17 Glasgow, Scotland. We left Inversnaid at 9 a.m. Come on Lake to Ballock and by rail the balance of way. Visited the Cathedral and the Necropolis Lunch. Then visit the Exhibition In the evening we take carriage and all on Elders Bowman & Gardner and ride about the city. TUESDAY, JUNE 18, 1901 Liverpool England We met Dave Low and several of the Missionaries in Glasgow this A.M. Dave Low accompanied us to Ayr and the Burns district. Had good time. Leave Ayr at 2-10 and arrive in Liverpool at 10 pm. A long ride but we waited to reach Liverpool before stopping WEDNESDAY 19 Liverpool, England Good rest and get up late Got several letters from Ezra and Mother and one from Bro Scowcroft Rich Pugmure is here and spends the day with us. Rich & I visit the Royal Infirmary and see Dr Parker operate. Rained nearly all day. Write letters home THURSDAY 20 On S.S. Commonwealth This a.m. we did some trading in Liverpool and prepared for voyage At 3-30 we went down to ship with Apostle & Sister Lyman. A big crowd at pier. We start at 4-35 p.m. Rains nearly all day. About 600 passengers on board. We are the only mormons in first cabin |
