INVISIBLE TO THE UNITED STATES. SMALL AND UNIMPORTANT. VISIBLE IN THE SOUTHERN OCEAN. A TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE MOON August 14-15. Invisible to the United States. The beginning visible generally to Asia, Australia, eastern and central Europe, and Africa except the northwestern part; the ending visible generally to Europe, Africa, central and western Asia, western Australia and eastern and central South America. A PARTIAL ECLIPSE OF THE SUN August 30. Invisible to the United States. Visible to the extreme northern part of Europe, the northern and northeastern parts of Asia, and the Arctic regions. A Transit of Mercury over the Sun's disk May 7. Partly visible to the United States, the Sun setting with Mercury on its disk. The ingress visible generally to North America, the northern and western parts of South America, eastern Asia and eastern Australia; the egress visible generally to the extreme northwestern part of North America, Asia, Australia, Europe, and Africa except the extreme northwestern part.
